no planet b

As a business and as individuals, we aim to be good to our planet in every way possible.

One way is by following the 5 R's to address plastic pollution: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Remove

  • Refuse: We say no to using new plastic materials. By refusing to use new plastic materials, we reduce our overall plastic consumption and prevent the addition of new plastics and microplastics that get dispersed into the world. As an alternative, our balms are filled in paper tubes. Other packaging material consists of plant-based mailers and honeycomb paper. Not only are both of these options sturdy and great for cushioning, but it's also kind to the environment.
  • Reduce: We take "reduce" one step further than just in regards to plastic. Do we really need this?  When given the option, we steer away from non-essential items. Even if something is recyclable, compostable, or biodegradable. If it will not benefit you in some way, you can't repurpose it, or is plain unnecessary, then we prefer to not offer it. This way we reduce overall waste.
  • Reuse: When we receive shipments containing plastic bubble wrap, other plastic padding, kraft paper, tissue paper, etc., we will reuse them for your orders! This is the only reason you may occasionally see plastic packaging in your shipments.  We choose to reuse these materials because chances are they are in excellent condition and can still perform its job. It is the perfect opportunity to put "reduce" and "reuse" to practice for materials that would otherwise go straight to the trash after a single use.
  • Recycle: We actively choose materials that are recyclable, like our honeycomb paper, and in some cases paper boxes. We may also use materials that were made out of recycled material as that has a lower impact on our environment.
  • Remove: It's important to properly dispose of plastics. That means looking at the recycling number and check if your city has the facility to recycle that type of plastic. If it is not recyclable in your area, throwing it in the trash is actually better! In addition, remove plastic and other litter you see from the streets, beaches and other areas to prevent microplastics from disturbing Mother Nature and her wild animals.

Other ways we implement sustainable practices is by using compostable or biodegradable materials when possible. We also aim to source our ingredients from ethical, fair-trade, or organic suppliers.
